Are you accepting new clients?
Yes, we are accepting new clients. We have day and evening appointments available. Contact us at 916.718.9501 to schedule an appointment or online on the link below.
What should I do to get started?
You can contact our office by phone and we can discuss what you hope to get out of therapy. We will set up our initial session and send you an email for you to complete your forms online. Registering online allows you to take time to fill out the forms as completely as possible, prior to your session. This way you will not need to arrive early to fill out paperwork or use up your session time. If you have any questions about anything do not hesitate to give us a call (916.718.9501 ).
During your first session you will start to get to know your therapist and how she works, and it will be an opportunity for you to be able to share more about yourself and why you have decided to seek therapy.
Is this confidential?
Yes, “what happens is session, stays in session!” However, if you would like your therapist to talk to someone, for example your physician, psychiatrist, etc, then you can sign a release for her to do so. There are also some exceptions to confidentiality, because she is a mandated reporter and required to report child abuse, elder abuse, or if she feels you are a danger to yourself or others. Please read the informed consent for more details or feel free to ask questions for clarification.
Who do you see in your private practice?
We work with individuals, couples, and families. Often the couples and families seen are new parents and struggling with going from a duo to a trio or more. I also work with many moms that are struggling with depression or anxiety. However, if you are not a parent or do not plan to have children, that does not exclude you from coming to see me. Other clients I work with are having problems due to an addiction, mental illness, or physical illness. Other common issues are depression, anxiety, stress, phase of life, and relationship problems.

For individuals: Intake sessions are 75 minutes for $215. Ongoing weekly sessions are 50 minutes for $185
How often do we meet?
Most people begin with weekly sessions; however, we are able to see you more frequently if needed.
How do I make an appointment?
Making an appointment is easy. Call 916.718.9501, email here, or schedule your own appointment here. We will make an appointment within the next week. If I am unable to answer, please leave a message with a few good times for me to call you back and I will get back to you as soon as possible. What payment options are there?
We accept cash, checks, and credit cards. We have a limited number of slots available to those who need financial assistance. Please inquire about availability.
The fee is paid directly by you to me at the beginning of each session.
Do you take insurance?
I do not currently take insurance. It is important that you know in many cases insurance requires a mental health diagnosis in order to pay for claims. This is not always appropriate for my patients. Working without insurance increases your privacy and gives you control over your therapy process. I will provide you with a super-bill for payment you can use to seek reimbursement from your insurance company (see previous question). Not billing for insurance allows me to keep my fees lower, and leaves me more time for doing what I love, seeing my clients. I do work with victim witness assistance for those that qualify for the program.
We are covered as an out of network provider on most PPO Insurance plans and happy to provide you a super-bill at the end of each session, which you can then send to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully to verify specifics of your particular insurance coverage and ask the following questions:
-
Do I have mental health benefits?
-
What is my deductible and has it been met?
-
How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
-
How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
-
What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
-
Is approval required from my primary care physician?
Do you provide supervision for interns?
Yes, I do. I remember clearly what it was like to be a MFT Trainee and Intern, and how hard it can be to find supervision. I would be happy to talk with you and answer any questions you may have and determine if I would be a good supervisor for you. See Professional Development.
